If You Have Ever Parked a Car in Haslemere, Please Read This
(Reprinted with kind permission from The Haslemere Chamber)
Surrey County Council intends to put parking meters, more single and double yellow lines, and other parking restrictions all over Haslemere. If this happens, then living and shopping anywhere in Haslemere could become an expensive hassle for anybody who uses a car.
There will be more Traffic Wardens, all of the shops will find it harder to make a living (some could go out of business), and the face of Haslemere will change for ever and for the worse.
There is only ONE really big parking problem in Haslemere, and that concerns rail commuters who park in residential roads. The County Council's parking proposals have not addressed this problem properly. All that the County Council's parking proposals will do is raise money for the County Council!
There is one way that the County Council can be provented from doing this, and it needs your help. Listed below are details of how to object, and also how to find out more about the proposals.
There is a deadline of 10th February for objections.
Please send your reasoned objection(s) to Surrey County Council in writing or by email to:
Surrey County Council - Traffic Regulation Order Team. High Street, Merrow Lane, Guildford. GU4 7BQ
If you object via email, please copy your objection to Haslemere Town Council via clerk.htc@haslemere.com so that an account of electronic objections may be kept.
If you would like to see exactly what Surrey County Council wants to do with parking in Haslemere, then please follow this link.
Both The Haslemere Society and The Haslemere Chamber of Trade have writen a very clear explanation of why they object to the current proposals. Detials of which can be viewed on their websites.
Please add your voice, and help us stop Surrey Country Council from destroying our beloved town.
